When a heart wrenching diagnosis is received, the enemy of our souls seems to have a “thought planting machine gun” pointed at our souls (mind, will, emotions) so that we can be inundated with possible scenarios—and that enemy doesn’t shoot any good possibilities our way. Fear, then, is his stock in trade and, if we don’t take that fear captive, then fearful thoughts can become “worst case scenario videos” and we start making life and death decisions rooted in that fear. Such decisions are NEVER a good idea and can undermine our healing.
BUT GOD, on the other hand, has already provided plenty of good scenarios through His Word. It’s just that fear and faith cannot co-exist (as Scripture teaches), and things we thought we believed before a terrifying diagnosis can fade and falter. Facts that a scan or lab test report, however, are not TRUTH…..Facts and Truth are not the same thing. Tests may provide the fact that a tumor exists in a certain organ and a physician may be standing there sincerely relating the “prescribed protocol of treatment”. And, with that “worst case scenario” video playing at warp speed in our mind, we “just want our life back”…..so without taking time to jump out of the thought whirlpool…..most people make desperate decisions… “Yes, cut it out; burn it out; poison it out…..whatever, just do it.” Never mind the “odds” that the treatment itself might kill you.
No second opinion? No consultation with the God that Created your body? He promised a lot of things about our health……. NOW might be a good time to review those promises because “God is not a man that He should lie.” AND, “in Him there is no shadow of turning (He does not change.)” and “He is no respecter of persons” so He treats us all the same. This is the time when we either believe Him or not…..I didn’t say “believe ‘in’ Him or not….I said, “believe what He says or not”……
Turns out that our very beliefs, themselves, can determine the outcome of every single situation we find ourselves in. Quantum Physics (see Dr. Bruce Lipton’s book The Biology of Belief, or Annette Capps’ Quantum Faith for quick revelation on this point) is revealing more and more about the actual scientific and spiritual impact of our beliefs on not just our physical wholeness, but our financial well being, relational well being, our everything really.
In a nutshell, what does Quantum Physics have to do with something like making cancer treatment decisions? Don’t Panic! Don’t run around putting yourself on every prayer list in the state “hoping against hope” that somewhere a good “miracle prayer” will stick on the “Gates of Pearl” and God will notice. Don’t share the news with anyone who will start planning your funeral right away—that is anyone who doesn’t believe in God’s healing promises…….or who doesn’t understand the difference between facts and truth.
Do settle down, take a deep breath and remind yourself that your body is fearfully and wonderfully made to heal….regardless of the published statistics or whatever else “the world” has to say about it. Refresh yourself on what God, Himself, says about healing. Those Scriptures are posted on this blog in print and audio files both. Read 2 Chronicles 16:12 and find out what happens when we rush to men for healing without seeking God’s direction–the Holy Spirit’s direction BEFORE making decisions.
Read John 16:13 and re-introduce yourself to the Holy Spirit…spend whatever time it takes in personal prayer and listen also because prayer is a two way communication. Remember that what matters to you matters to God.
Do some research and find people to pray for/with you who really understand praying for healing and rebuking enemy attacks. Avoid as all costs having someone pray “if it be God’s will please heal __________”. God’s Word is clear about His will and you need look no further than “The Lord’s Prayer” because Jesus clearly taught us to pray that God’s “Kingdom come and will be done on earth as in heaven” and there is NO cancer in heaven so why would Jesus have taught this prayer if having cancer on earth is His will. Don’t buy into doctrine men have developed because they have seen people not healed after being prayed for….there could be a million reasons that particular healing didn’t take place, but blaming God is wrong.
Realize that healing is a matter of balancing the natural and supernatural…..modern medical training is largely pharmaceutical based and nutrition is generally looked down upon by doctors because they don’t know anything about it. This blog refers to many good resources for nutritional and lifestyle adjustments–but you should follow the guide of the Holy Spirit on these as well as the rest of your seeking of healing. Jesus, in His earthly ministry, balanced the natural and supernatural all the time–He could have just made the crowd of 5000 supernaturally no longer hungry; instead, He fed them from the sparse loaves and fishes. Eating is a pretty “natural” act.
Whatever you do, be at peace completely with your decisions–not panicked, not deciding in fear or hurry, and not accepting your plight “statistically”. Call in prayer warriors who stand on Scripture and confess those Scriptures aloud constantly. Stand up and fight. Pray like God’s Word is truth……by the way, it is and it says He wants you not only healed but “IN HEALTH” until you’ve satisfied the plans He has for you. The words you (and those you allow around you) speak into the atmosphere never disappear. These words are powerful and absolutely affect your healing.
Be careful that you don’t “give God three days to do a miracle and then scrap the faith thing.” LISTEN within your own spirit for direction and suggestions. Confess God’s healing Scriptures and then pray and then listen…..when you are at peace with a move, go forward with it. God does use doctors but not always. Be Patient..you didn’t get cancer overnight and healing may depend on you changing your lifestyle—or even on making sure you are not holding any grudges or harboring any bitterness or anger. These things, as Scripture teaches, block prayer and block healing. There are natural and supernatural laws we must move within to obtain that health God so wants to bless us with. He’s on our side. Check out John 10:10…..God did NOT give you cancer.
Think of yourself as a well person under evil attack rather than a sick person trying to get well…..it will make all the difference.

In case you don’t know about Bill Henderson’s books, eNewsletter, and research regarding fighting cancer without standard chemo/radiation which, Bill remembers, made his first wife’s life hell on earth, I’m including here the link to Bill’s latest eNewsletter: http://www.Beating-Cancer-Gently.com/163nl.html .
Additionally, this particular issue of Bill’s eNewsletter has a very interesting article on the same subject as my last post. The “legal drug culture” and/Big Pharma’s amazingly invasive impact on our society.
Frankly, Bill’s work is very helpful; however, it does not embrace the essential role of faith in healing. He “leaves that up to us”….. and, of course, this blog site exists to balance the natural (Bill’s focus) with the supernatural. Still many of the “success stories” in Bill’s media give great homage to the Lord’s role in their healing.
Regarding “naturally living supernaturally”, I’ve begun reading a very intriguing book by Kevin Dedmon who is on staff at Bethel Church in Redding, CA. The title is Unlocking Heaven: Keys to Living Naturally Supernatural. In a conversational style, Dedmon goes through Scripture with a spirit of wisdom and revelation that gives his reader one “aha” after another. He discusses our ambassadorship in the “Kingdom of Heaven” and how to walk out that role.
I think this book will strongly impact Christians who have heretofore experienced frustration with unanswered prayers for healing. Dedmon simply explains how we should view ourselves as “physicians assistants” when a loved one is ill or injured and he explains Scripturally based ways to bless and pray for and, frankly, expect healing to result. He lives what he teaches and it’s simply a “way of life”.
Dedmon debunks a lot of “religious bondage” about healing and introduces the reader to God’s fatherly character–“Daddy, Kiss it and Make It Go Away” is a great chapter. The “Yada, Yada, Yada” chapter (yada is a Hebrew word for multifaceted relationships) gives amazing insight into our innate relationship with our Father God–Yaweh Rapha (Healer).
This is not an “effort” or “works” book but a relationship book and it will have Christians slapping their foreheads and saying, “Wow, we don’t have to take this sickness stuff any longer…..God has set us up for divine health.” The stories of healing–some actually humorous and inspiring–show us how to hear God’s direction when we “rest assured” in our relationship with Him. And, in this “rest”, we can simply learn to be the contact point for miraculous healing as a daily way of life. That’s right any place and any time. It’s not a “formula” book or a “doctrine” book but a “relationship” book.
I recommend you read Dedmon’s book and step into the “Kingdom” that is “at hand”….claim your inheritance and understand that Jesus meant it when he taught the prayer “Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN……
I’ve been teaching Katie Souza’s amazing book, The Captivity Series (along with some other resources), at an addiction recovery center nearby for about two months now. The class is made up of seven lovely young women (several of them married with children) who somehow entered the sordid world of drug addiction in spite of (for most of them) being “believers” who had “church lives” of some description. These young women are recovering from hard drugs and half of them are in the program “on bail” from jail. Their testimonies are difficult to “wrap your head around”–how did such women find themselves in the “drug culture”? As I get to know them and care deeply about their recovery, I see their plight is not dissimilar to my own “finding myself” in the cancer culture.
Both “cultures” are “lies of the enemy”—actually “tools of the enemy of our souls” who (per John 10:10) “comes to steal, kill and destroy”. The germane similarity of these “cultures” is their root which is “destructive thought” which, not immediately rejected, dominates one’s biology and, thereby, one’s soul (mind, will, emotions).
Whether we are responding to being offended or sinned against by someone else or we develop patterns of negative thinking and/or speaking, we are poisoning ourselves physically and emotionally. We may turn to “drugs” as, in America, we see them constantly and attractively advertised as “the answer” or the “solutions to nearly any problem”–first as pharmaceuticals but colloquially as “recreational drugs” because many of us rationalize that we “deserve relief from soul or emotional pain”. On the other hand, even the “professed believer” may put our faith in standard medicine to overcome the symptoms brought on (immediately or eventually) by stress–treating symptoms rather than the root and then treating side effects with yet another pharmaceutical until we have pickled the cells of our bodies either with stress reaction biochemicals or manufactured chemicals whether legal or illicit.
Why would “religious people” turn to drugs? The answer is Scriptural….because, as Jesus taught, “religion”, as demonstrated through the ideology of His detractors in his earth walk, has a great deal to do with “fear of sinning” but little to do with “abiding IN Him” or having a relationship with Him based on love. Faith–real faith– is the substance of things hoped for–as the writer of Hebrews tells us. Faith has nothing to do with the condemning “religious spirit”. Sin consciousness and a “works mentality” bring more and more stress upon us if we don’t understand the rest of John 10:10 quoted above……Jesus telling us, “but I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.” The beloved disciple, John, simply adds in 3 John 1:2 (AMP) “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as your soul keeps well and prospers. “
We forget that we have a defeated enemy who only has one insidious weapon–planting toxic thoughts. We become convinced that we can take care of ourselves (through our own effort/work without submitting to our Lord. We forget Christ paid the ultimate price for our absolute and complete atonement and “showed the enemy who was really boss” by victoriously rising from death after the enemy used “religious people” to “kill” Him. Without submitting to our Lord in full faith before we attempt to resist the enemy’s “thought attacks”, we are powerless. Without accepting through faith the “life force of our Lord” rather than the “sin consciousness/works mentality life force of our accuser”, we find it impossible to take those toxic thoughts captive as God’s Word tells us (2 Corinthians 10:5).
When we refuse to receive through faith the power of the resurrection, those toxic thoughts become more than snap shots and we let them develop into videos of accusation, fear, self pity, chronic offense, resentment, worry, victim mentality, rage, bitterness, etc etc. “Our conscious mind experiences these signals as emotions. The conscious mind not only “reads” the flow of the cellular coordinating signals that comprise the body’s “mind” it can also generate emotions which are manifested through the controlled release of regulatory signals by the nervous system.” (Lipton, p 101 Biology of Belief)
Kenneth E. Hagin, the great minister of healing, is famous for saying “We may not be able to keep a bird from flying around our head, but we can keep it from building a nest in our hair.” ……meaning we may get a “thought” but we don’t have to let it take hold. We can choose to NOT be offended and/or to forgive.
Dr. Bruce Lipton, PhD (whose lectures appear prolifically on Youtube) says (again in the book Biology of Belief p 117), “To fully thrive, we must not only eliminate the stressors but also actively seek joyful, loving fulfilling lives that stimulate growth processes.”…….that is rather than inhibiting growth processes (physically and emotionally because they are inseparable). Lipton also says, (p 116), “Inhibiting growth processes is ….debilitating in that growth is a process that not only expends energy but is also required to produce energy. (my emphasis) Consequently, a sustained protection response [ stress response (my note)] inhibits the creation of life-sustaining energy. The longer you stay in protection [or stressed], the more you compromise your growth. In fact, you can shut down growth processes so completely that it becomes a truism that you can be “scared to death.” Lipton is, here, discussing responses to external stimuli that create stresses. Certainly negative emotions are “stressors” and fear and faith are mutually exclusive. Ephesians 3:12 (AMP) “In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear). “
Lipton’s remarkable book (which I highly recommend you read) clearly explains how our perceptions of life shape our biology including our genetic activity–our actual DNA can be changed by our beliefs which are biologically subject to our perceptions. Our perceptions are shaped by thoughts we “entertain”.
The Bible agrees with this insight many times over (a few references follow):
Matthew 8 “….as you believed so be it done unto thee”.
Philippians 4:7-8 (ASV)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Proverbs 23:7 (AMP)
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. ….
2 Corinthians 10:5 (ASV)
5 casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

Another good article from Natural News…..Also keep in mind that Cilantro has been proven to defend against radiation damage. Good to know BEFORE being scanned either medically or for air travel and if you are a user of electronic devices.
(NaturalNews) A seemingly humble herb, mint offers a variety of exceptional health enhancing features. Research has shown that certain varieties of mint have properties that help defend against cancer and damaging radiation. Not only does this herb offer protective benefit, but it also provides those who suffer from irritable bowl syndrome much needed relief.
Mentha piperita (peppermint) is native to the Mediterranean and nutrient rich. The fresh herb contains ample amounts of vitamin A, C, B12, K, along with folic acid, thiamine, and riboflavin. Mint also provides many essential minerals such as calcium, copper, fluoride, iron, potassium, selenium, and zinc. The essential oils found in mint include menthol, menthone, and menthol acetate.
Powerful relief for distressing symptoms
Peppermint oil offers new hope for individuals suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Italian researchers found that 75 percent of patients participating in their study had substantial improvement in their IBS related symptoms when peppermint oil capsules were taken for four weeks. It is believed that the menthol in the mint blocks calcium channels, thus relaxing the muscles of the intestinal wall. This helps to relieve the abdominal cramping and pain, diarrhea, bloating, and constipation associated with the disease.
A broad spectrum protective herb
Peppermint holds promise as a potent herb against cancer and the effects of radiation. According to a study in 2010, liquid extracts of peppermint were shown to protect the gastrointestinal and hemopoietic systems from radiation. The healing properties in the extract are found to be metal chelating, antimutagenic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. Additionally, DNA repair processes are enhanced. Tumors of the pancreas and liver are particularly vulnerable to the bio-active components of peppermint. Cancers of the skin, lung, and colon are also inhibited by this herb.
In another study, researchers at the University of Salford found that the extract of Scutellaria barbata (Skullcap barbat) starves tumors. It attacks the blood vessels feeding the tumor, blocking the availability of oxygen and nutrients that allow tumors to grow. The extract is very selective in targeting only blood vessels associated with the tumor, leaving normal vessels that feed healthy tissue unharmed. As noted by a spokeswoman for Cancer Research UK, “Scutellaria barbata has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat several illnesses including certain types of cancer.” Scutellaria barbata is a member of the Lamiaceae (mint) family of botanicals and is native to China.
Whether seeking to alleviate the discomfort of IBS or protection against cancer and radiation, mint provides a simple, effective, and time-honored solution.
