Every Word Counts!

The power in our words is real and persistent even if we don’t mean what we say

Are you talking yourself into “dis-ease”? It’s very common to hear “casual statements like”:

“I’m trying to get the flu….”

“This headache is killing me…..”

“The ‘sore’ on my foot is worrying me to death….”

Many of us do a great deal of negative self talk thinking it is “just words” or, worse, a way to be “humble”; however, our bodies hear and respond to every word we say. This topic is discussed in considerable detail in the book, Slam the Door on Cancer….and lock it out of your life. The power of words is very much discussed in The Bible in many different places. The resources mentioned in this post ALL expand the subject of speaking life or speaking death. Either way, you will be correct.

In Slam the Door on Cancer, I share an exercise I learned from author and counselor, Gary Sinclair who wrote Your Empowering Spirit. In my seminars, I ask for a volunteer to come forth and try to get one who is confident in their muscle strength. I have the volunteer stretch out their dominant arm to the side at shoulder height. I do my best to push down the arm so it touches their side. I work out regularly so I am pretty strong, but often the volunteer can hold the arm in place against significant resistance. Then I ask the volunteer to envision an imaginary person–not someone they know–standing about 10 feet away. I ask if it’s a man or woman so I know they have a solid “Picture” of the person. Then I ask them to tell the person they are “weak and unworthy” aloud ten times. When they’ve finished repeating these words, I have them extend the same arm again and, without exception, I have been able to push the arm down quickly with two fingers of pressure. THIS PERSON’S BODY HAS BELIEVED EVERY WORD IT HEARD THE PERSON SAY TO AN IMAGINARY PERSON KNOWING IT COULD NOT BE TRUE. THEIR OWN BODY HEARD THE WORDS AND OBEYED THEM.

The wise King Solomon tells us in Proverbs 6:1-2 that “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth.” Charles Capps, in his essential book God’s Creative Power, explains, “Spoken words program your spirit either to success or defeat. Words are containers. They carry faith or fear, and they produce after their kind.” (p4) Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God“. (www.charlescapps.com )

Dr. Caroline Leaf, PhD, in her book, Who Switched Off My Brain?, says, “Words are the symbolic output of the exceptional processes happening on micranatomical, epigenetic, and genetic levels in the brain. The words you speak are electromagnetic life forces that come from thoughts inside your brain. They are influenced by your five senses and result from choices you have made. They reflect your attitude. . . .They contain power and work hand-in-hand with your thought life, influencing the world around you and the circumstances of your life.” (p 93) ( www.drleaf.com )

Dr Leaf admonishes us that this discussion is “much more than just positive thinking…framing your world with words is not just about talking positively. . . .Your words have to be backed up with honesty (what the science of thought calls integrity.” (p93)

In my own “interactive miracle”, I found God’s creative power in His Word by decreeing aloud all of His promises about my health and well being. I lined my own “intent” up with God’s “intent” and no enemy can touch that power. Intent is a key in any thought or word process and we further discuss the quantum science underlying that power in Slam the Door on Cancer.

In her profound book, Discover the Secret Key of the Cross, Margaret Lukasik discusses listening to what you’re saying every day. “You’ll probably find that you’re making confessions all day long that keep you working hard on your own rather than looking to Christ. By changing what you say, you’ll be exchanging words of hard labor for words of freedom and rest.” ( www.lifepurposebooks.com )

Lukasik’s book can free you from fruitless striving to muscle God through prayer and decrees and move you toward speaking His Word because it’s true. We decree God’s promises not to make them happen but because they have already happened and our part of the process is to proclaim them or release them into our very atmosphere.

As Margaret Lukasik says, “We are to operate in this principle (of speaking God’s Word over and over daily) to grow faith for God’s Word, not laboring to be good enough to move God’s hand for us.”

Lymphatics! Our Secret Soldier!

I apologize to readers. In my haste to answer the question: “Please share in more detail what you did in your “interactive healing miracle”, I did not give attention to one of the most critical elements of this victory–lymphatics. Most people are aware that they have “lymph nodes” and that it’s frightening for doctors to talk about cancer cells being found in them. Frankly, that’s about the extent of awareness.

Our lymphatic fluid MUST constantly move through filter nodes and return to our circulatory system. It is a 24/7 internal cleansing mechanism.

I do give attention to our amazing under appreciated “lymphatic system” in my book, Slam the Door on Cancer, but I want to march this topic out into the sunlight for its own “awareness campaign”. We have so many colored “awareness of disease” ribbons which somehow irritate me because I don’t like making any disease a “celebrity” in any sense. Instead, let’s give something that really deserves awareness and CAN help us NOW individually more than a ribbon. Let’s give it respect and USE it wisely which costs nothing and tremendously impacts our health. Let’s drain our stagnant swamps within.

What is the lymphatic system? It is a network of vessels and nodes (basically filtering stations) that cover our entire body more or less parallel to our blood vessel system. They have valves similar to veins to guard against “back wash”. The fluid in lymph vessels is not “pumped” by a “beating heart” as blood vessels are.

abdominal organs and the space around them to help fluid not become stagnant. There are two zones to the lymphatic system. One includes head, right arm and shoulder and part of thorax (chest). The other includes the rest of the body. Both have tiny capillaries picking up wastes and debris at the cellular level then carrying it via gradually enlarging vessels (and passing through filtering and/or “treatment nodes” then finally “dumping” that filtered fluid into the blood vein just under the left collar bone.

How does this important system work? The process goes on 24/7 but can be sluggish if not supported by light exercise and deep breathing. The sedentary lifestyle and habitual shallow breathing that goes with it undermines the critical function of this system. Chronic inflammation, the root of nearly every disease, usually results. The heart will keep the circulatory system “chugging along” up to a point. The lymphatic system depends on you and me to live in such a way that this waste fluid has no opportunity to stagnate. We cannot afford to take it for granted.

In all my research I came to realize that the more deliberate a person is in cooperating with the amazing “clean out system” we call our “lymphatics”, the less likely that person is to have inflammation get a foothold and disease get a stronghold. Personally, I pursued proper breathing mechanisms integrated with light but comprehensive exercise (whole body involvement).

I also offer a DVD of these exercises (loosely adapted from Tai Chi) on www.slamthedooroncancer.com. Some people like the DVD because they can use it with their TV instead of computer and, on it, I repeat the movements several times. I sell it at my cost.

Frankly, it is easy to learn the movements by memory (from either youtube or DVD) and do all or part of them whenever you have the opportunity throughout the day. The routine takes very little space and you can pick the ones you are more comfortable with. It is very helpful to do them upon arising because our bodies do tend to need a “jump start” after a night of stillness.

Regarding deep breathing, here are the basic steps (as Dr. Andrew Weil teaches them). This exercise has been used for 1000’s of years in ancient and modern medicine. Remember, cancer is anaerobic but normal cells MUST have oxygen:

You just sit quietly
Put the tip of your tongue at the back of your upper two front teeth
Breathe in through your nose to a count of 4
Hold the breath to a count of 7
Breathe out with a soft “whoosh” through your mouth keeping your tongue at the back of your two upper front teeth.

Apparently the tongue on the teeth completes an electrical circuit which is extremely helpful because we live in a “body electric” as well as a biochemical body.

Many wonder what they CAN do to enhance their internal environment so that diseases like cancer cannot gain access. Living with respect to our and awareness of our “secret soldier”–our amazing lymphatic system is THE first step. I encourage you to work with it! Obviously, staying well hydrated is essential for the lymphatic system to be able to do its job sufficiently.

Meat Decisions Regarding Cancer

Cattle are “wonderfully designed” to turn photosynthesized plant material into a really healthy form of food that a really healthy body can well use in moderation.”

When I was personally faced with “being my own doctor” with a diagnosis of ‘untreatable pancreatic cancer’, one of the most confusing and difficult decisions was whether or not to stop eating meat. I had been a “beef eater” all my life and really wondered if “going vegan–or almost vegan” was that important. I was, then, unaware of the enormous changes that had taken place in beef production. I now live in a rural area where there is much “beef on the hoof” but mostly these are brood cows with calves at their sides and plenty of green grass to graze upon. As yearlings, the calves are usually shipped to a large industrial feed lot “out west”.

Recently,a local farmer I respect posted on Facebook that he’d found a sick calf in his herd and he made a remark that caused me to pause. He said something like, “Those of you who don’t want us to use antibiotics haven’t ever seen a sick calf. We wouldn’t give them antibiotic injections unless necessary as a bottle of the medicine costs $1100.” I know this man takes great pride in and care of his herds. Yet, I realized he was unaware of the real issue we who understand we MUST eat “clean food” for our health (really that’s everyone but some of us are “re-building” our bodies) “get”.

only receive feeds designed to make them grow fast and stay healthy enough to pass inspection. Thus they receive massive amounts of growth hormones, prophalactic antibiotics, and genetically modified corn, soy, and (according to “Consumer Reports” Oct 2015) they may also be fed “candy, chicken coop waste, and the slaughterhouse remains of pigs and chickens, ….and plastic pellets, which are used as substitutes for the fiber they’d normally get from grazing on grass” (as God designed them to do).

The “Consumer Reports” article also confirmed the drug information I mentioned earlier. The article title is “How Safe Is Your Beef?” and provides a nice chart entitled “A Tale of Two Cows” contrasting habitat, diet, drugs, and basic slaughter principles for a “conventionally raised” or “grass-fed” beef cow. (p27 of the article)

The article goes on to explain bacteria including “superbugs” in beef and explaining how to choose, handle, store, and cook beef for best safety. In a nutshell, the “Labels to Look For” are: (p 28 of the article)

BASIC: “No Antibiotics” (If the package says “raised without antibiotics” and also “USDA Processed Verified”, a no antibiotics claim is more trustworthy. ” Be aware of labels such as “no antibiotics used for growth promotion,” which can still mean that antibiotics were used.”
GOOD: “Grass-Fed”. The USDA requires that beef labeled “grass-fed or “100% grass-fed” come from animals that have never been given grain and have access to pasture during the grazing season.” There are documentation loopholes, however.
BETTER: A. “Organic”. “Cattle are fed organic feed (no pesticides, synthetic fertilizer or genetically engineered ingredientsCattle are fed organic feed ). They are not given antibiotics, hormones, or other drugs. Animals must be given access to pasture for most of their lives, but feed-lots and grain feeding during their last few months is allowed.” B. “American Grassfed Association”. The animals are never given grain and have continuous access to pasture or a grass-based forage when weather does not permit grazing. Antibiotics and hormones are prohibited. The Association verifies those practices. Pesticides and herbicides are allowed on the pastures the animals feed on, and they can also be fed genetically engineered alfalfa.”
BEST: “Grass-Fed Organic: “With this combination of labels, you get meat from cattle that have not been fed grain and eat only organically grown grass and forage. Antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs are prohibited. If the package also has the Animal Welfare Approved seal, the Certified Humane seal or the Global Animal Partnership (GAP) 5 or 5+ seal, animal welfare standards also apply.”

I am fortunate that some “local producers” have chosen to cooperate with smaller well designed processing plants and sales outlets for beef, chicken, and some pork. They also work with a small local company who go to Alaska and catch small batches of “wild caught salmon” processed in Alaska and flash frozen before being carefully flown to our area. I encourage you to look for such conscientious entrepreneurs in your area. I also encourage you to visit www.consumerreports.org and read the entire article which is truly packed with information. One thing is certain. Eating rare meat–especially ground meat–is potentially very dangerous. Safe handling of meat is a major challenge and needs to be meticulous–that is kept cold from slaughter through preparation and then thoroughly cooked before consumption.

Personally, when I was beginning my healing process, I gave up all meat and most dairy (except the high sulfur dairy proteins used in the Budwig protocol) for the first three years. I added a bit of grass-fed beef and chicken I was reasonably sure I could trust after that. However, I still eat very little meat and feel much better when I don’t. Too much meat is inflammatory and we know most disease is rooted in inflammation.

It takes much longer to digest meat than plant-based foods and a weakened or challenged digestive system means an over-faced immune system. Always in healing, we are actually replacing body cells…..all of them fairly often. We must have a highly operative immune system (which is really not a system but a cooperative effort from parts of every other body system). In this body re-building, the “raw materials” are nutrients if we want healthy replacement cells. Why put stress on this innate and critical healing mechanism? Standard cancer treatments put enormous strain on these essential healing mechanisms because the strong chemicals and radiation kill more “healthy cells” than “cancer cells”.

What’s the issue with antibiotics in meat? Simply said, antibiotics always wipe out and/or weaken some built in immune system functions. These chemicals are very strong and they pass right through food animals into the consumer. The toxin effect accumulate and tricks normal healing functions. God made our bodies to heal and man-made chemicals don’t figure into the plan.

Why are corn and soy such an issue. Virtually ALL corn and soy is genetically modified and “read” by the body as toxic material. We can’t digest it normally and it can damage our own DNA which, of course, figures into the cancer equation.

I urge you to give your body ONLY God-made “raw materials” so His built-in healing mechanisms can do their job. God IS our health and He didn’t just “mess about” in creating our “wonderfully made bodies”. That’s certainly been my experience and I’m just an average person.

These are the appendices Three and Four of the book and they give you lists of foods that contain molecules known to detoxify, inhibit inflammation, boost immune system, stimulate apoptosis (cell suicide) and/or Natural Killer Cells, inhibit proliferation of tumor cells, inhibit invasion of tumor cells to other tissue, inhibit angiogenesis (growth of tumor blood supply).

The information in appendix three (foods) was compiled from numerous sources including but not limited to the books: Foods to Fight Cancer by Beliveau and Gingras (both PhD’s) and Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life by Servan-Schreiber (M.D. and PhD and long time cancer survivor).

God created us individually and provides materials we can use individually. Our needs for health management in this modern world are not a surprise to Him.

The information in appendix four (spices) was compiled from the work of Dr. Bharat B. Aggarwal, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer as the lead writer of a NIH manuscript entitled: “Molecular Targets of Nutraceuticals Derived from dietary Spices: Potential Role in suppression of inflammation and Tumorigenesis”.

Chapter Eleven of my book, Slam the Door on Cancer and Lock It Out of Your Life, is entitled, “Embracing the Power of Food. The term “nutraceutical” is used to compare the impact of God-made substances to “pharmaceutical” or man-made chemical substances.

Here’s a comparison of God-made & man-made “medicine”

We are designed with the most powerful healing mechanisms within our very complex and ever-changing bodies. God-made medicine adjusts perfectly.

• Nutraceuticals:
o Molecules NATURALLY occurring in food. God-made to match God-Created bodies.
o Selected over the course of history for survival support.
o NO SIDE EFFECTS
o Synergy or antagonism between molecules by design not accident.
(“Over-dosage” extremely rare or non-issue because food and body are coordinated naturally.)

Man absolutely cannot make medicine able to “not do harm” in our complex bodies. Even disease organisms eventually outsmart synthetic drugs.

• Pharmaceuticals:

o Created in a laboratory—synthetic

o Selected in a laboratory (with profit as part of motivation)
o PROUNOUNCED SIDE EFFECTS (really “other equal effects”)
o Synergy or antagonism due to chance and rarely recognized. Dosage and coordination with other substances often an issue.

In the next post, I will share more about my own protocols but insist that my readers do not copy me unless they tune into God to find out what He “prescribes” for them individually. He assures us through Jeremiah: “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans for you to reach your expected end.” Jer 29:11 His plans might or might not include a brilliant surgeon.

If your plan matches God’s, you will move forward in perfect peace. How I wish more people would consult with the Lord BEFORE making treatment decisions rather than jumping into the first thing suggested or prescribed and then hurrying to get on numerous prayer lists. We cannot muscle God into cooperating with something we’ve chosen without consulting with Him first. God is “driving the bus” on our healing journey.

Prayer and Stewardship

After a three part series on powerful prayer, some may wonder:

“If prayer focusing on God’s grace is THE ultimate element in seeing healing manifest, where does nutrition and lifestyle fit in? The answer is that prayer and stewardship are a continuum in health.

Prayer, indeed intimacy with God, is THE basis for both obtaining and keeping one’s healing. God is NOT an “indian giver” but He cares about the details of our lives–and will guide us through each move we make.

God is a good father. He wants to carry us forward in health and joy. He’s not merely interested in our obtaining our healing. He is our guide for keeping it.

Of course continued intimacy with the Lord is essential because He IS our health as He assured and proved to the Israelites as literally millions of them left Egypt completely healthy regardless of age and a difficult history as overworked slaves. Stewardship of our blessings is, actually, yet another form of worship–of praising and thanking the Lord for creating these amazing physical bodies and enmeshing body and soul perfectly for our enjoyment.

Whenever nutrition and lifestyle change is the topic of discussion, many folks dread the thought. They think of the uncomfortable bondage of “diets” and struggling to avoid unhealthy food or habits using their own willpower. Christians often overlook that self-control or temperance is a fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit and a free gift (Gal 5:22,23). Being in a close personal relationship with a loving, holy God changes our “want to” so that carnal willpower becomes immaterial. Instead of struggling to NOT do what we addictively want to, we find ourselves compelled to co-labor with our great Creator in keeping our bodies operating like a well oiled machine (an infinitely complex one at that). I have seen this miracle many times when a volunteer teacher in addiction recovery. I never once witnessed victory through human willpower–I saw it happen only through yielding to God’s love and compassion leading to the “gifts of the Spirit”.

Victory is inherent in focusing on moving toward the light rather than focusing on moving away from the darkness. Faith changes our “want to”.

In my own experience, as I tuned into God through prayer, obtaining and keeping my healing merged into the same process. In

persistent and consistent prayer (a brand new experience for me at the time), I began to sense being directed in my physical and mental choices. I stopped trying to “drive the bus” on the healing highway and began to trust. TRUST eliminates fear and stressful striving neither of which can succeed in stewarding health. God gave me a yearning for what my body/soul needed and I began to flow with it.

We need to stay in tune with our Creator constantly and persistently.

I discussed specific aspects of stewarding healing in my book, I will mention some of those important revelations regarding stewardship of health below. However, the foremost precept is that our created body/soul is so complex that no human being has, does, or ever will grasp its makeup and function completely. We are biochemical and electrical, as we do know, and we have cells of many “types” making up tissues that group into organs that group into systems. However, organs can function in more than one system, cells can “morph”, and an infinite number of chemical and electrical mechanisms constantly adjust to each other and to the internal environment and external environment. Neither the human imagination, amazing as it is, nor the most advanced human designed computer could possibly ever register all the processes within the body much less the constant adjustments of every part of these.

chemical or electrical switch” can never do ONLY what the designer intends. ALWAYS and in every case there are “other effects” marketed as “possible side effects”. They are not merely possible but probable and no person knows what else is happening that can damage natural processes permanently. Ingesting a legal man-made chemical is no better “bet” than ingesting a “illegal” one. We may take an “over the counter” pain relief pill. It may stop a symptom. It will never be ingested without unknown consequences and it will not address the cause of the pain.

All this said, never forget that God has the answer for every dis-ease. He is not surprised by the mess “in the world”. He created every possible “medicine” (in foods, spices, herbs) to help us maintain these body/souls in absolutely perfect balance chemically and electrically. It’s a matter of being “in the world but not of the world”. Yes, what we eat, drink, think, as well as our work, play, and rest are all part of the health maintenance design of our Creator. I learned the hard way that our body/souls respond in a healthy way ONLY to food God made and intended for their fueling and sustenance.

of cancer cells) and we happen to eat more berries than we need one day, the overage will simply pass through without becoming toxic. That is IF the berries are not laced with pesticides or earthly toxins. Other than some herbs, foods don’t need to come with “maximum dosage labels”. God builds that into our “want to”. We lose an appetite for that food for a period of time.

Food is sometimes concentrated into “supplements” that can be very helpful in a world where industrial farming is rampant. Stay tuned into God when considering supplements.

I’m hesitant to tell you exactly what I did because we each must go to God in prayer for our own “healing plan–nutritional plan”, but I believe there are universal “musts” and they include overcoming inflammation; being aware of and eating to balance body pH to a slightly alkaline mark; exposing skin to sunlight without sunscreens regularly; drinking clean water; sleeping deeply and regularly; laughing and exercising (lymphasizing); spending time daily “grounded” electrically (more info coming in future posts); and assuring body cells have access to essential fatty acids. All these things work WITH our amazing innate “immune systems”. Prayer and worship keep our spirits in touch with our loving Creator’s Spirit so that He can “coach our health stewardship”. It’s a simple matter of asking and listening and responding. It’s all about trusting God. God sees our TRUST in Him and credits it to us as righteousness just as He did Abraham. (see Gen 15:6, Romans 4:3, Gal 3:6, Jas 2:23) We may be “in a mess”, but He’s “on the alert” to lead us to victory in every way.

Our Focus for Powerful Prayer 3 of 3

In post 2 of 3 in this series, we ended with the powerful truth that: “When we see His grace, then He sees our faith. I shared Scriptural situations in which Jesus demonstrated this truth powerfully. We are looking at Biblical ways to strengthen our prayer.

Still, many of us pray for healing unsure if it is part of God’s covenant promises.
It is impossible to pray effectively for something we have the slightest doubt God wants for us. Sometimes we fear the reason our prayers seem to “bounce off the ceiling” is because we have “fallen from grace” because we’ve sinned. Look here at what the Apostle Paul says about “falling from grace”.

Fear of “falling from grace” is an enemy ploy. He is “the accuser of the brethren”.

Scriptural Insight: There is only one way to “fall from grace”:

Galatians 5:4 (AMP)
4 If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God’s gracious favor and unmerited blessing).

The ONLY way to “fall from grace” or be separated from Christ after you receive Him as your Lord and Savior—that is REALLY receive Him with your whole heart—is to believe you can DO something right enough or good enough to gain righteousness and right standing with God.

Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished.” (see John 19:30) He did not say, “I’ve done my part now you get to work to earn access to my work.” It is a free gift because we could never earn it—for hundreds of years after Moses received the law, none could follow it. So God, Himself, in Jesus “fulfilled the law written in stone”. (see Luke 22:37) The law is now written on the hearts of true believers. (see Rom 2:15)

YES, folks who are truly saved have their motivation changed and do good because they want to not out of fear of hell. They DO good works because they ARE righteous and blessed and prayerfully walk in God’s amazing favor. The actions follow accepting the grace of the Lord’s love poured out on the cross, but actions or “works” do not purchase grace and favor.

God’s Grace is a free gift and none can earn it…Only believe.

Now let’s look at further Scriptural insight into God’s Grace and Promises that Jesus secured for us without exception if we simply receive:

Ephesians 2:8 (AMP)
8 For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;

Romans 5:2 (AMP)
2 Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God (salvation).

Titus 3:4-7 (AMP)
4 But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared,
5 He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing [bath] of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6 Which He poured out [so] richly upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
7 [And He did it in order] that we might be justified by His grace (by His favor, wholly undeserved), [that we might be acknowledged and counted as conformed to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action], and that we might become heirs of eternal life according to [our] hope. (NOTE: i.e. that we might be “saved by grace through faith”)

There are many instances of “saved by grace through faith” in Scripture. In ALL cases, the original language for “saved” or “salvation” is #4982 “sozo” which means “wholeness of body, soul, and spirit” and not merely “saved from hell”.

SUMMARY:
We live in the “world” where favor is generally “merited” by hard work. Jesus finished the “work” for our favor. In that “work”, He

God wants to bless His children ALWAYS

gave us what He, a perfect human being walking the earth, deserved and He “finished” what we deserved. He gave us His own righteousness—God sees us only in that righteousness.

We do not earn our salvation (sozo that is) by works. We do good works because being saved compels us to do them. He gave His body for our physical health. His soul was poured out unto death for our mental/emotional health. He wore the crown of thorns to obliterate the curse of Eden. He gave us access to His spirit at Pentecost after His bodily resurrection when He told us God was “His Father and our Father”. (see John 20:17)

Jesus said we need “just a little faith” or “mustard seed sized faith” but never said: “But strive and workj to have more so Father God can keep His Word.” Jesus said, “Have faith as a little child”. If a good parent makes unconditional promises to a child out of love, does the child need to work on conjuring up ever more faith in the parent’s character?

A child won’t naturally do so. A child will completely focus on the parent’s loving promise. The child will “see” the parent’s granting of “unmerited favor” and a good parent will relish the opportunity to keep a promise—Gracefully keep it. God is a good parent

Never forget John 3:16 even when you encounter confusing preaching or come upon a Scripture that seems to say, “Work or go to hell.” Scripture must be studied in context and Scripture must interpret Scripture. John 3:16 is a foundational Scripture:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus covered ALL the future sin of God’s children……..ALL of our sin was future at the time of the cross. Don’t back away from God’s promised healing.

The Focus For Powerful Prayer 2 of 3

Powerful Prayer Focuses on God’s goodness and grace rather than our own faith.

The first post of this series of three discussed the critical importance of concentrating on the goodness of God when we pray rather than on our own worthiness (apart from Jesus’s finished work) or our own level of faith. We saw in Scripture that Jesus said we only need faith “as a mustard seed–the smallest seed” to receive what we need from prayer. This post looks at where we get our mustard seed (and much more) faith so that we enjoy powerful prayer.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God( ( Romans 10:17)

Translation contrasts: The first is a popular modern translation and the second is Young’s LITERAL translation which word for word considers the original languages Greek for the NT and Hebrew for the OT. Greek has more complexity than English so that modern translations often oversimplify to the point of missing the true meaning.

Mark 11:21-25 (NIV and many other modern translations)

21 Peter remembered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!”
22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.
23 “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (NOTE: This is before Jesus’s crucifixion/resurrection.)

Mark 11:21-26 (YLT) (from original Greek)
21 and Peter having remembered saith to him, `Rabbi, lo, the fig-tree that thou didst curse is dried up.’
22 And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God; . . . (also translated as “the God kind of faith)

Faith is a continuous gift from God through His Word (both logos and rhema) or (Scripture and God’s ‘still small voice in our spirit). Where does faith come from? Can we conjure it up under our own power?

17 So belief (faith) cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
“word” = #4487 Strong’s “Rhema” (rhematose) or “God’s/Christ’s spoken word” we still receive. )

Two of many Scriptural examples of successful/powerful focus and answered prayer:

I hope you take time to study this woman’s focus which she thought and, some accounts say, spoke. She prophesied based on her faith and didn’t even realize she was doing it. Words and thoughts are the most powerful things in the universe that God SPOKE into existence.

ONE: Mark 5:24-34 (NIV) 24 So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him.
25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.
26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,
28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”
29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?'”
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.
33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.
34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” (NOTE: This is only time Jesus calls a woman “daughter” in his ministry.)

This woman’s focus was NOT on her own faith but on Jesus’s grace. She was a Jew and had been considered unclean by others for 12 years—isolated and discouraged by earthly means of healing. She probably knew Hebrew Scripture and, therefore knew Malachi 4:2 (NIV) 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. “ Thus she was strengthened by having heard God’s Word recited aloud throughout her early life as well as hearing of Jesus’s ministry as He walked the earth as her contemporary.

TWO: Matthew 8:5-13 (NIV) This man understood Jesus’s authority against the enemy and we must remember that Jesus paid for and passed that authority to His followers of which we are members.

5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
6 “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.”
7 Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.

SEEING God’s grace with our spiritual eyes is a constant and consistent prayer regardless of where we are or what we are doing.

Neither of these persons seeking healing were focused on their faith. They were totally and completely focused on Jesus and His compassion. Neither was conscious of their own faith but they were aware of His grace—indeed of God’s grace and faithfulness. “Grace” means”undeserved favor”. We can’t DO enough to deserve it but Jesus did it for us.

When we see His grace, He sees our faith.

He loves us and wants to lavish His love and mercy on us.

He also wants to inhabit our worship of Him. Worship and praise opens the interface between the earthly realm and the heavenly realm.

Water Heals!

In this post I share an excerpt from my book, Slam the Door on Cancer and Lock It Out of Your Life. The subject is thirst and health and applies to ALL health aspects. Even if you have read the book, I urge you to “refresh yourself” by again visiting this critical subject.

Thirst No More

Remember when I talked about the amazing impact words have upon water referring to the book, The Hidden Messages in Water by Masaru Emoto? Water we take in has an amazing impact on us as well. Our bodies are largely water. The “healthy state” implies that we must keep the water content of our bodies properly distributed. Hydration is the single most important element of good health because it facilitates all normal body functions.

In all my research, one of the most fascinating resources was Dr. F. Batmanghelidg, M.D.’s, Water for Health, for Healing, for Life. The tag line in the title is “You’re Not Sick, You’re THIRSTY!” Dr. “Batman” (his chosen nickname) spent his incarceration as an Iranian prisoner of war treating fellow inmates for stress related diseases. He kept careful records of his work so he could share his conclusions. The “take away” points of this book in our context include:

1. “Dry mouth is not the only sign of dehydration.” Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink water. “It is now crystal clear that the human body has many different ways of showing its water needs.” I list other signs of thirst later.

2. Water is not only “life sustaining” but also “life giving” in its nature. 3 Water is not inert as Dr. Emoto’s crystals reveal; rather it holds within it far more cosmic truth than we have realized even though Scripture is rich with lessons regarding “living water”– lessons often interpreted too figuratively. Water constantly transports life-giving elements to every cell and transports life threatening toxins from every cell. We have seen in Emoto’s crystals, that it is somehow part of our soul as well as body.

3. People are deceived “thinking that tea, coffee, alcohol, and manufactured beverages can substitute for the pure natural water needs of the body.” “Dr. Batman” says this assumption is “an elementary mistake, particularly in a body that is stressed. It is true that these beverages contain water, but most also contain dehydrating substances such as caffeine . . . ”when you drink coffee, tea, or even a beer, your body gets rid of more water than is contained in the drink.” We know that only pure water contains oxygen and hydrogen, which is the only material in a beverage our blood and lymph fluid can use.

We must keep water “flowing” through our bodies constantly to avoid “stagnation”. Doctors Guyton and Hall, in The Textbook of Medical Physiology, 11th Ed., explain, “The kidneys must continually excrete at least some fluid, even in a dehydrated person, to rid the body of excess solutes that are ingested or produced by metabolism. Water is also lost by evaporation from the lungs and the gastrointestinal tract and by evaporation and sweating from the skin. Therefore, there is always a tendency for dehydration, with the resultant increased extracellular fluid sodium concentration.” Additionally there is a threshold for drinking at a certain sodium concentration in the extracellular fluid. “Water intake restores extracellular fluid osmolality (movement through membranes) and volume toward normal.” Earlier, when we were discussing the various receptors on cell membranes, I mentioned that one of them was a pump requiring oxygen to generate energy. That pump relies on proper sodium concentration in the fluid between cells. “Dr. Batman” adds, “All living and growing species, humans included, survive as a result of energy generation from water.”

Hydration is important to “putting the inflammation fire out” in our bodies and drugged up beverages have the opposite effect

All Drinks are NOT Used by Our Bodies as Water

Media is packed with energy booster drinks hyped to overcome that “afternoon slump” capitalizing on the everyone-does-it lifestyle. Even the pink ribbon disease marketing campaign now participates in this health counterfeit. “Dr. Batman”, however, can save us some grief and money as he teaches regarding feeling tired without a plausible reason. He says, “Water is the main source of energy formation in the body. Even the food that is supposed to be a good source of energy has no value to the body until it is hydrolyzed by water and energized in the process.” Until recently, car batteries required monitoring of their water level to keep the current flowing. Now they are “closed cell” so water is not lost. We saw in previous chapters that electrical energy generation at the cellular level is an essential life process. Guess what, we still have to monitor and maintain our body’s “battery” water level. Pure water or liquid “Foo Foo Dust” for energy boost? No contest!

“Dr. Batman” also gives other body thirst signs such as unreasonable irritability, dejection, feelings of inadequacy, autoimmune maladies and depression. He also discusses short attention span, quick temper, flushing, shortness of breath, cravings for manufactured beverages and alcohol, feeling “heavy headed” and disturbed sleep as “body thirst” signals. Many of these things are linked to acid/alkaline imbalance from dehydration triggered situations in the body such as loss of amino acids (proteins) and insufficient absorption or loss of certain minerals and the absolute need for essential vitamins and fatty acids.” Nearly every book or study I’ve read points out that cancer thrives in an acidic body environment and even perpetuates that condition as it progresses. Drs. Batman and Budwig compliment each other well.

Race for the Cure–Recent Headlines

Hello readers! I am a bit late with this post because we were traveling for our 50th anniversary. It was a wonderful milestone we planned nearly a decade ago when doctors pretty much patted me on the head and said, “Sorry about your luck” as they diagnosed a large cancer in my pancreas and surrounding areas. They were wrong about “luck”. God was right about our “wonderfully created bodies”.

What is the “race” really for?

When we returned home, I was wading through the accumulated mail and saw the front page of the August 24 issue of Barron’s Magazine/Newspaper with colorful depiction of “cancer cells” and the headline “CANCER: THE NEW CURE”. Barron’s is a financial investment publication , of course, so it covers all the stocks of the pharmaceutical industry within its broader scope.

I knew what perspective to expect in this article, but I continued and read the sub-headline, “By tapping the body’s immune system, drugmakers are making big gains in the war on cancer. Winners in this potential $30 Billion market could be . (several large pharmaceutical companies were named). . .”. The mention of the body’s immune system tweaked my “irony antennae” compelling me to check out the claims and focus in the article. The article said, “While creating a huge market for drug makers, immune-oncology’s success (the ‘new drugs that tapped the immune system’) could also add $30 billion to our nation’s medical bills . . .” Higher health care premiums anyone? Higher taxes anyone?

Why would I think it ironic for an article about oncological pharmaceuticals to mention “tapping the body’s immune

Good intentions . . . . . but what is the real “Finish Line”?

system”? First, this concept is a 180 degree turn from all the oncological drug development that blatantly destroyed “the body’s immune system” which, of course, is the innate cancer fighting system in our “wonderfully created bodies”.

In researching to overcome cancer’s attack on my own body and, later, in preparing to write my book, Slam the Door on Cancer and Lock it out of Your Life, I literally consulted hundreds of resources–books, studies, articles, etc. I was searching for a consensus in ways I could activate the built in anti-cancer (indeed anti-disease) mechanisms in my body. Allopathic medicine, I knew, had nothing to offer me other than an excruciating end of life experience. Pancreatic tumors have well known negative prognoses.

I also knew that my physician husband, because of his orthodox medical training, would have difficulty supporting any “alternative treatment” choice. Even after my scans reported “no evidence of recurrent or residual disease” he struggled with my nutritional and spiritual pursuits–but not for long because it’s a lot more pleasant living with someone who becomes healthier (and more joyful) daily. My healing became contagious and my husband soon participated fully in my anti-cancer lifestyle. How did it happen? Are you ready? I tapped my body’s immune system. Fortunately, however, I did not need pharmaceuticals like the “immune-oncology contrivances” described in the Barron’s article I mentioned above.

By the way, the article works through “drug trial” and “clinical studies” lingo and most readers would probably think, “Wow, finally some progress in the (tired and well hyped) “war on cancer” ignoring the truth that very little life changing progress has been made in this “war” over the many decades it’s been “waged” although “statistics” have become evermore craftily maneuvered. Most people are not aware that the term, “cure”, is hardly the goal, but “5 years of survival” is the standard for success–regardless of quality of life in that interim. I’ve never understood “remission” as a health goal nor have I found others who can explain it plausibly–including doctors. I was careful to avoid the word as I pursued restoration of health.

Nevertheless, this article flows along on a plane of standard drug development jargon from a profit making perspective. Profit, in itself, is not a dirty word; however, greed is just that even if it can be draped in pretty words like “exciting times in the history of oncology”. Who could argue against such a statement published in an investment publication with projected costs per patient of $100,00 to $150,000 per year. With these “trials” and “studies” designed and paid for by the pharmaceutical companies who are producing the drugs and with the competition between behemoth drug companies generally hyped as participating in an exciting “Race for a Cure”, folks diagnosed with all “types of cancer” can find their way into the profit ballooning giddiness at least for a while.

As I read the article, I gasped at the statement, “Doctors have long suspected that our immune system had a role in controlling cancer.” The article implies this has been known 100 years het my research gives it much longer recognition than that. This statement led me to the truths and facts I’d learned that took me from the low point of doctors scurrying to get me discharged from the hospital to be home for what the seemed to fear was “my last Christmas” to the high point of spending my 50th anniversary wading pristine creeks high in the Great Smokey Mountains. I had “immuno-oncological” help but it wasn’t of the $100,000/year variety. It was of the God-made variety which, of course, perfectly matches the needs of our God-made bodies and souls. Why do I mention souls? Because, even though standard western medicine largely ignores it, we have absolute biochemical and Biblical proof that the body and soul cannot be separated, period. I discuss this point further in “Obtain Your Healing and Keep It” offered as a free download on this blog.

What did I do? I changed my life–eating, drinking, sleeping, working, praying, meditating on God’s Word, FORGIVING, etc. I got rid of the “make you sick stuff” like bitterness, anger, etc. which stopped the chronic and continual churning of “emergency response chemicals” through my body. I quit taking in toxins like sugar, MSG and other excitotoxins, fluoride, etc. I made darn sure I only put clean pure God made food and water in my body. All this is discussed in my book and other blog posts. Basically, I freed my immune mechanisms to do what they were designed to do and keeping cancer at bay is an important part of that.

In the Barron’s article, there is an interesting graphic of the “Multiple targets in immune-oncology”. It has 7 “segments” in a sequential cycle with drug company names listed under each one I suppose indicating their “I-O territory”. There are 3 segments mentioning the T-cells of the immune system which quickly got my attention. Yes, T-cells are great wonderfully created anti-cancer immune system “workers”. Interestingly, I found Beta 1c3 Glucan years ago which has a plethora of research on its function (Dr. Vaclav Vetvicka, Ph.D (U of Louisville) has a book, Beta Glucan: Nature’s Secret, quite informative on this fungal derivative). Transfer Point Beta Glucan has been boosting my T-cell function quite satisfactorily all this time. I have no business link with this manufacturer and I’ve learned recently that NSC BetaGlucan is also good.

In Slam the Door on Cancer, I share other specific foods (including spices like curcumin from turmeric), green tea, fresh, frozen or extracted organic berries, organic vegetable juicing, essential fatty acids (in a balance of omega 6 and omega 3), certain herbs and food based minerals) all of which have specific immune system boosting mechanisms including stimulation of apoptosis (suicide of rogue cells) and preventing angiogenesis (blood vessel growth to tumors). Hippocrates did say, “Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.” The body is complex and so is good clean food–they harmonize perfectly.

I am not of the cure for cancer mentality whether allopathic or alternative–there are no “silver bullets” and certainly our bodies have absolutely efficient innate means for humming along at the peak of health IF AND ONLY IF we avoid poisoning them (including toxic words and thoughts) and IF AND ONLY IF we provide them the essential materials to constantly build brand new healthy cells as we constantly replace “spent” ones. Because I didn’t jump into a “cure strategy”, I found that moving into good nutrition and an “anti-cancer lifestyle” physically, mentally, and spiritually caused my body to detox naturally. It WILL heal if we don’t bully it with drugs and “cure strategies”. Supplements can be drugs too if they are man-made.

Cancer is not a pandemic because we are all “sitting ducks” and a growing percentage of us are gunned down as the “cancer nazis” fly over. It’s not even really a disease. It is the body screaming, “stop killing me by undermining your own immune system”. Why does it occur in a particular place? Well, what’s your poison of choice? Where will your toxin-loaded wheelbarrow tip over on its way to an over worked excretory mechanism in your body? Cancer is a symptom of extreme ill health of the body/soul. It is not a shortage of a man-made chemical in our bodies.

Do you have to wait for Big Pharma to ride in on a white horse? It’s not been my personal experience. You can go to the God Made source while the drug developers try to make man-made versions they can patent. For example, curcumin in the ancient spice turmeric was shown to have a “staggering effect on killing cancer cells” in several well known medical institution laboratories. How did the “cancer industry” react? Apparently there has been a scurrying around to develop a synthetic version of turmeric because ancient spices can’t be patented. Check it out in the former pharmaceutical chemist Shane Ellison’s book, Over the Counter Natural Cures.

Laughter is Powerful Medicine

LAUGHTER IS POWERFUL MEDICINE

Occasionally, I’m compelled to remind my readers that their sense of humor actually stimulates their body’s “good health and healing mechanisms”. In my book, “Slam the Door on Cancer”, I share the well-known author Norman Mailer’s story of recovering from a “terminal disease” by getting out of the hospital and into a hotel room where he was monitored by his physicians while he “laughed himself well” through watching good old wholesome comedy videos.

I, too, was aggressive in making laughter and humor (only wholesome and not dark humor) a huge part of my daily healing protocol. I still keep resources handy and I’m often reminded in prayer to “lighten up and laugh more”.

The “science of laughter” is well founded in God’s Word, “A merry heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” We know that laughter physically stimulates the lymphatic system and circulatory system.” In fact, as Norman Mailer put it, “laughing is ‘internal jogging’ “.

I also recommend a book by Charles Hunter (the great healing minister along with his wife, Frances) entitled “Laugh Yourself Healthy: Keep the Doctor Away With a Giggle a Day!” Some jokes are precious and some a bit corny. Laugh at all of them.
